Landmark venues
The palaces along the Quai du Mont-Blanc offer exceptional late-afternoon light over the lake and the Jet d'eau; in return they impose tight spaces and controlled movement, where a light crew makes all the difference. The estates of the Geneva countryside — Cologny, Vandœuvres, Jussy, Choulex — allow outdoor ceremonies and marquee dinners, with acoustics that usually call for independent microphones. The properties along La Côte, between Versoix and Nyon, add vineyards and shoreline. Franco-Swiss weddings often extend into neighbouring Haute-Savoie, twenty minutes from the city.
Seasons
From May to June the light is long and the greenery still fresh: the best window for an outdoor ceremony. July and August bring heat and late-day storms; we always plan an indoor fallback during scouting so nothing in the timeline is lost. September is our favourite season: golden light, a warm lake, the grape harvest. From October the mist over Lake Geneva gives remarkable texture, with short days that call for an earlier ceremony. In winter weddings move indoors, often into a palace, and shaping artificial light becomes central.
Practical advice
Plan permits when the civil ceremony takes place in a public space or on the water: slots are short and not negotiable. Allow realistic travel time between the two banks, especially late in the day. If your vows matter to you, ask for separate audio: on a lakeside terrace, wind erases a voice in a second. Finally, group the family portraits right after the ceremony; that frees the end of the day for the finest light, the light that stays in the edit.
